The Kaplan story began in 1951 when Leon and Renée Kaplan (Mr. and Mrs. K) opened a toy store in Greensboro, North Carolina. They opened a second store in Winston Salem, North Carolina in 1952 and then continued to expand the business throughout the late 1950s and early 1960s. In 1968, they founded Kaplan School Supply, affirming their commitment to children and introducing toys that teach.

For over 35 years, the Kaplan name has been synonymous with products that promote learning through play. Today, this family-owned business is a strong leader in the field of early care and education. Recognizing that children are our future, Kaplan companies provide products that foster creativity, enhance learning, and encourage independence.
